Serving Trays Make Very Nice Gift Basket Containers
Serving trays are made of wood, ceramic, metal, wicker, plastic, and more. They work very well for food related gift baskets, but can be used for many other theme gifts as well.
Although many styles are easy to work with, it's easier to work with a tray that has a lip or a raised edge.
Here is an example of how to create a gift basket using a tray as the container: I'll use a pasta gift basket theme. Start with a taller item, such as a package of pasta, in the center. Then place graduated size items all around the package of pasta; lean them into the pasta and hold the items together with double stick tape. Fill any empty spaces with shredded tissue paper or pre-packaged shred.
Many other styles work well for a variety of theme gift baskets; a desk tray for a student or home office, a vanity tray for a young lady, or a breakfast in bed tray for newlyweds.
If desired, place the completed basket in a cello bag or wrap in cello paper. Gather the ends together at the top and hold in place with a rubber band. Cello bags are easier to handle than cello wrap. Tie with ribbon and add a bow or use curly ribbon. As a decorative touch, tie a silk flower in the ribbon.
Serving trays
make good containers for breakfast-in-bed, spa, and most food or beverage theme gift baskets. If you are brainstorming for an idea for a child who is sick-in-bed, a tray with snacks, beverages, and little gifts is ideal. If your budget is limited, check out the local dollar type store.
