2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon lemon zest (optional)
4 tablespoons (1/2 stick) butter, chilled
3/4 cup milk
1 cup blueberries, fresh or frozen
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Place flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and lemon zest in large mixing bowl. Cut in the butter with a pastry blender or fork until mixture is crumbly. Add milk and blend well (the dough will be sticky).
Gently stir in blueberries.
Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and gently knead for 12-16 strokes until the dough is almost smooth. Pat or roll the dough into a 1/2 inch thick circle. Cut the circle into 8-12 triangles or into 2" circles using a biscuit cutter. Place triangles or circles 1" apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
