Recipes In A Jar

Use these recipes in a jar as standalone gifts or include them in your homemade gift baskets.

Gifts that you make yourself have a lovely personal touch. Use them as gifts for teachers, your hairdresser, or work associates. They are also nice as a hostess or get well gift.
Here are several decorating tips that should be helpful in preparing these recipes in a jar.

• start with clean dry jars



• wide-mouth jars are easier to fill



• purchase new jars at supermarkets, department stores, and Ace Hardware



• use a funnel to pour most ingredients in the jar



• place thin layers of cardboard between flour and other ingredients so the flour doesn't seep through
  
  pack the ingredients tightly and make sure the layers are level



• if some ingredients stick to the inside of the jar, use dry paper towels to wipe it off before adding the next layer



• arrange the layers so the color contrast



• if using brown sugar, loosen it before adding to the jar and then pack it down in the jar
