Unique Planters

As Gift Basket Containers

planter

Planters are nice containers for gardener gifts, housewarming gifts, or for anyone who enjoys flowers or nature. They can be made of clay, terra cotta, wood, ceramic, or plastic; metal ones with a "rusted" look are really attractive, although more expensive. If you are seeking unique ideas. look for unusual shapes such as oval, rectangular, square, or even a large tea cup and saucer. They can be purchased at yard sales, flea markets, garden shops, thrift stores and stores like Walmart, Target, etc. If you have a dollar-type store in your area, they usually have an assortment of flower pots as well as gifts to complete your gift basket.

If you are the crafty type, visit my web page that will give you directions for creating painted flower pots or planters.

The assembly process is the same as using a wicker basket or most other containers. However, clean straw, grass-green shred, wood chips, or decorative rocks or stones would be appropriate as the filler. You might want to add some artificial ivy or other greenery for a more decorative look.
Although you are using a flower pot-type of container, it doesn't mean that you must include only gardening type of gift items. A spa theme, fresh fruit, any food theme, or whatever you choose would be just fine.

tea cup and saucer Tea Cup Planters are another option; particularly nice for a tea drinker. A matching saucer is usually included, so it's a good idea to place double stick tape between the cup and the saucer. Then fill the cup with small treats, tea bags, etc. Place the finished gift in cello bags or some other kind of wrapping so it doesn't get broken.
