Homemade Pizza Gift Basket
Created By You For Pizza Lovers
A pizza gift basket was one of the first theme gift baskets I made many years ago. It's a wonderful idea as a housewarming gift as well as on any occasion for pizza lovers. It's an especially useful gift for college students or teenagers who are interested in cooking.
First of all, you don't have to use a wicker basket as the container for a pizza gift basket. You could use a pizza stone or pan. Fill it with gifts such as a pizza cutting wheel, crust mix, jar or can of sauce, small bottle of olive oil, jar of sun-dried tomatoes, a garlic press, bulb of fresh garlic, grated cheese or wedge of Parmesan or Romano cheese, an oven mitt, pot holder, pizza cookbook, or a gift certificate for pizza. Don't forget to include some spices such as oregano, basil, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, or Italian seasoning mix are all good choices.
Start putting a

together by placing a decorative terrycloth towel or red checkered napkins in the bottom on the basket, pizza pan, or on top of a pizza stone. Place the finished side of the towel facing up so it looks nice. Then arrange the items in the basket and place the finished basket in a cello bag. Scotch tape items to each other to hold them in place. Then tie it together with a bow, rafia, or curly ribbon.
A really unique (and less expensive) container is to use a new pizza box. I'm sure your local pizza shop would give you one at no or very little charge. Start with placing some natural straw in the bottom. (You can purchase straw at most craft stores.) Place a pizza pan in the box and top it with small pizza making items. Use twine to tie the box well so your finished gift doesn't come apart. This is a nice idea for guys because it has a manly look with the straw and twine.
