Movie Gift Basket Ideas

popcorn container

A movie gift basket is one of my favorite theme gift baskets to make. The reason it is a favorite is because it is appropriate for many people and it's easy and inexpensive to find gift and food items for this theme. It works as a birthday, graduation, work-related, sports event, or holiday gift. Also, a nice idea for a family or group of people; not to mention those "difficult to buy for teenagers".

Start with the container. A wicker or wire basket is easy to work with, but an unbreakable tray is okay, too. If you prefer to use a movie gift basket theme container, Blockbuster sells these containers. And some kitchenware departments carry bowls with "Popcorn" painted on the bowl.

Pails are suitable containers also, and they are readily available at a variety of stores. If you plan to include cans of beverages, select a larger size pail and place shredded brown paper in the bottom. Then fill in the spaces with your other gifts and food items.

If you have a limited budget, check your local dollar-type store. Another thrifty idea is to ask your local produce person if he has any small wooden crates that he (or she) would give to you.

In addition to dvds of movies, you may want to place a theatre gift card or certificate, blank video tape or dvd, a Zagat's movie guide book, an assortment of microwave popcorn (spice mixes or toppings for popcorn), cans of soda, plastic cups, straws, candy, nuts, chips, or decorative paper napkins in these gift baskets.

You can even make your own popcorn balls or homemade chocolate fudge as a personal touch for your movie gift baskets.
