Homemade Wedding Gift Baskets
Give special and unique wedding gifts with homemade wedding gift baskets. They are wonderful wedding gift ideas for family, friends, coworkers, or neighbors. The best part about making your own gift baskets is that you can personalize it just for the couple.
Some ways of personalizing is to include a bottle of their favorite wine, a cd of their favorite music, a gift item that relates to a hobby or sport they enjoy doing together. A picture frame engraved with their names and wedding date is a favorite personalized gift. If they are registered at a store, this is a good place to shop for their favorite gift items to place in the gift basket.
If you want to keep with a specific theme, here are several ideas you may want to consider. Of course, you should keep the couple in mind and choose items that would please them.
Honeymoon: Use a wicker basket or tray (with sides) as the container for these homemade wedding gift baskets. Add purchased shred to hold the gifts in place. Add a bottle of champagne and two flutes with cloth napkins keeping them from clicking together and breaking (you'll find more details at my assembly webpage). It looks nice to place a small amount of shred in the flutes. Include cheese, crackers, cashews, fresh or dried fruit, and chocolates. Add a disposable camera, travel clock, and books or maps about their destination.
Romance: Fill your gift container with all things romantic. Music, scented candles, scented massage oils, book of poetry, chocolates, and a bottle of wine.
There are several webpages dedicated to themes that would work well as homemade wedding gift baskets. Here are links to three themes you may want to consider:
Another way of personalizing is by baking something really yummy to include. Here are two
chocolate cookie recipes
that are easy to make and will add a touch of romance.

* scented candles, candleholders, incense

Decorative idea for homemade wedding gift baskets:
Purchase a yard of tulle to wrap your completed wedding gift basket. Bunch it up in your hands and wrap it horizontally around the top edge of the gift basket. Tie it in a decorative knot, trim the ends, and let several inches of the tulle hang down.
If your basket is very wide you may need more than a yard of tulle to go around the basket allowing at least a foot for making the knot. You may want to add a couple of small wedding bells in the center of the knot. I've done this before and it looked beautiful. However, you may need to "play around with it" to get it just right.
Wrap a champagne bottle in tulle:
To make this really beautiful you'll need several sheets of tissue paper and two yards of tulle, cut into two 36 inch pieces. Fold the tissue paper so it will wrap around the bottle leaving some extra at the top. Wrap the bottle and secure with scotch tape. Lay one piece of tulle on a table; stand the tissue wrapped champagne bottle in the middle and bring the tulle over the top and gather the netting together; secure with ribbon. Do the same with the second piece of tulle. Finish it off with a longer, wider ribbon tied in a decorative bow.
Options: You can use all white tissue paper and tulle or white with a pastel color. choose ribbon in a color that will coordinate.
