Herb Flavored Oil Recipe
This recipe makes a delicious dipping oil for crusty bread or to use on salads.
Make this oil, pour it in a decorative bottle, add a label noting that it is Herb Flavored Oil and tie raffia or twine around the lid.
Give this homemade oil as a standalone gift or place it in your homemade gift baskets. It would be particularly nice in an Italian theme gift basket.
When you are invited to someone's house for dinner, instead of a bottle of wine make a gift basket for the hostess. Simply purchase a small wicker basket, add a cloth napkin or tea towel, the bottle of oil, and several Italian bread or rolls.
Ingredients:
Fill bottle half full of olive oil.
Add sprigs of fresh basil, oregano, or thyme (well dried with paper towels).
Add peppercorns if desired.
Pour more olive oil in to fill bottle. Add cork or lid.
NOTE: Adding ingredients with water will turn oil rancid in a short time (this includes fresh garlic, lemon rind, etc.).
