Homemade Graduation Gift Basket Ideas

graduation cap and diploma

Congratulate the graduate by creating a graduation gift basket as a way to commemorate this very special occasion. It doesn't matter if the graduation is from junior high, high school, or college nor the age or gender of the graduate; the process is the same.

Simply think about their interests, hobbies, or their future plans and use this information as a general plan.

Give the gift basket container some thought; it doesn't have to be a wicker basket. Unbreakable trays, basins, tubs, or pails as well as canvas shopping bags or organizer crates are all easy to work with and useful as well. If the graduate is a sports fan, you can choose a trash can with their favorite team's logo as the container. If they are going away to college this would be useful in their dorm room.

Now you can create the graduation gift basket based on a specific theme; you will find dozens of theme suggestions such as movies, pizza, spa, ice cream, sports, and pets to name a few.

Before going any further, this is a good time to visit the assembly and decorating page for detailed assembly information, decorating tips, filler suggestions, and unique ideas to personalize graduation baskets.

Frames for photographs, paperweights, inspiritational books, or any kind of momentos that are meaningful to the graduate would make wonderful gifts to include in a graduation gift basket. One idea is to include gifts with their school logo such as a cap, mug, keychain, banner, etc. Add note pads, stationary, envelopes, stamps, or a pre-paid calling card so they have no excuse not to contact you. Address and place a stamp on the envelopes as an additional hint.

Add an alarm clock, a battery operated reader's light, a daily planner, gift certificate to a stationary or book store, and don't forget the ready-to-eat food and drinks; soup mixes, hot cereal, granola bars, hot chocolate mix, instant coffee, tea bags, snack foods, and their favorite snacks and beverages. If you are a baker and know what their favorite cookies, that would be great homemade graduation gifts.

If you aren't keen on putting together a gift basket or your budget is limited, here are several inexpensive graduation gifts that may peek your interest.
