Gifts From The Kitchen

Homemade gifts from the kitchen make wonderful gifts. Create unforgettable gifts for family, friends, coworkers, neighbors, and teachers with homemade sweets, gifts in jars, homemade vinegars, and many more ideas.
Whatever the gift, you'll want to make sure that it looks as good as it tastes. Ideas for dressing up gifts from your kitchen are limited only by your imagination. Here are some decorating tips when using baskets as containers.

empty basket
  • Select empty baskets by size and shape. For example, a rectangular shaped basket works well for small loaves of bread.

  • Line the baskets with colorful cloth napkins or tea towels. Dinner-type paper napkins are another good choice; choose napkins that indicate the holiday or special occasion.

  • If you prefer to wrap the filled basket, use cello wrap or cello gift basket bags, which are available in party, card, or craft stores. Gather the ends of the cello above the basket and secure with curly ribbon, raffia, twine, or narrow ribbon. Tie a gift card in with the ribbon.
Shop at your local dollar store for empty baskets, ribbon, and items to line your basket. There are two dollar stores near my home, and I pick up extra baskets, ribbon, tea towels, and cello bags when I find ones that I know I will use.
It's nice to include beverage makings such as herbal tea bags, gourmet coffee, or envelopes of hot cocoa mix with sweet gifts from the kitchen.
