Unique Gift Basket Containers
The sky is the limit when it comes to gift basket containers. The first gift basket container that comes to mind is a wicker basket, but that is just the beginning. Get creative and use a container that indicates an event, holiday, or the recipient's hobby. The container can be the most important part of the gift. For example, use an mixing bowl for a baker's basket or a champagne bucket for a bridal shower or wedding gift. Fill the containers with less costly items.
Most craft stores carry wicker baskets and wooden crates. Department stores like Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, etc., sell many low cost items. If you are following a limited budget, dollar-type stores have containers, wrapping items, and lots of inexpensive gifts to fill your gift basket.

A nice idea for gift basket containers, which I have made several times, is using a plain, clear pitcher as the container. Place plenty of decorative shred in the bottom of the pitcher; not only will this help hold your gifts in place, but the items won't scratch the pitcher. Include scented candles, a mesh bath sponge, bars of soap, or any other bath items. If the pitcher is breakable, I present the gift in a shopping bag surrounded with lots of tissue paper.
Sets of stacking hat-type boxes are very nice for feminine gifts. You can fill each box with a different type of gift; for example, bath/spa items in one box, chocolates and sweets in another, and so forth. Stack the boxes for an atractive presentation and place wide ribbon around the stack. It works well if you form an X with the ribbon to hold the stack of boxes in place.
Finally, below is limited information for several unique gift basket containers:- Microwave containers: an inexpensive idea for a single person. Add a couple of food gift or food mixes.
- Stainless steel vegetable steamer: for herbs, spices, pepper mill, etc.
- Salad spinner: include salad makings such as small bottles of olive oil and flavored vinegar, herbs, and bulb of fresh garlic. Line the spinner with kitchen towels or dish cloths.
- Soup tureen: a really nice idea for someone who makes soup. Add soup mixes and crackers.
- Bundt pan: add a cake mix and a container of icing.
- Mini dish drainer: add cleaning supplies for a usable housewarming gift.
- Ice bucket: fill with beverage makings for a party.
