Colanders

Unique Gift Containers For Gift Baskets

colander

Colanders are unique gift containers for making pasta, salad, or housewarming gift baskets. Place a pretty kitchen towel in the bottom and fill it with food and kitchen gifts. A pasta gift basket is one of the easiest homemade gift baskets because the food and gift items are available in supermarkets. And also because there are so many items that are appropriate.

For more information about creating a pasta gift basket, you may want to visit my web page dedicated to making Italian Gift Baskets.

If you've never made a gift basket before, click on the link at the bottom of the page for assembly and decorating ideas.

Stainless steel and white as well as various colors of enamel finishes look very nice; plastic is fine if your gift items are not too heavy.

Seems like there are a lot of stainless steel mesh colanders on the market these days. This is a lovely gift by itself, but add some loose uncooked pasta, a rolled up kitchen towel, a pot holder, a couple of wooden spoons, and other such items, and you've got a great gift.

If you prefer the makings of a salad, line the colander with a kitchen towel and include salad dressing, an envelope of salad dressing mix, salad tongs, olive oil, red wine vinegar, balsamic vinegar, a small chunk of grating cheese, and a cheese grater. Another idea is to include a bulb of fresh garlic and a garlic press. Top it off with a couple of fresh lemons for a bright, cheery appearance.

Stores like Walmart, Target, and Sam's have seives at reasonable prices. Some dollar type stores carry them also as well as colorful towels, curly ribbon, gift tags, and a variety of kitchen utensils that are nice items to place in a food related gift basket.
