Homemade Christmas Scents Gift Basket
Unique Christmas Gift Baskets
Christmas scents is one of my favorite homemade Christmas gift baskets to make. It works for so many people that it's a good idea to make several extra gift baskets for last minute gifts.
Wicker baskets or small crates make nice containers and are easy to work with. Visit your local dollar type store early in the holiday season and you should find small, decorative baskets in several shapes. You might want to purchase shred, ribbon, and other items for your gift baskets while you are there.
Use red or green filler (shred, tissue, etc.), small artificial poinsettas, holly, or greenery between the gifts, and add a red, green, or gold bow or ribbon to finish off your gift basket. Red or green raffia look very nice and can be used as a filler, or to tie around individual gifts. Another option is to add a small amount of red or green garland between the gifts.
Choose all one scent or use a variety of Christmas scents such as bayberry, balsam, cranberry, pumpkin spice, hollyberry, apple spice, cinnamon, ginger, or pine.
Include gift items such as candles, incense, potpourri, a bar of soap, bath salts, or other fragrance items. You might want to include a small candle holder, CD of Christmas music, pine cones, or a Christmas ornament. Add fresh mistletoe just before presenting your homemade Christmas gift baskets.
If time permits, you may want to make some of your own holiday soaps to place in your homemade
Christmas scents
gift baskets.
Here's an idea that is particularly nice for coworkers as it is easy to make several that are identical. Also, it does not indicate Christmas. Start by purchasing small natural color baskets; a handle is not necessary. Line each basket with poinsettia or plaid cloth napkins or quality paper napkins. Add clear cello small bags with caramel popcorn, sugar cookies, chocolate covered peanuts, or other similar treats. Tie each bag closed with curly ribbon that matches the basket lining. Finally add a couple of twigs of greenery and several pine cones. If you can pick your own pine cones, read this article that describes how to thoroughly
clean the pine cones.
Another idea is to include other homemade aromatherapy gifts. Here are four
recipes for bath products
with suggestions to decorate the jars or bottles. Simply substitute holiday scents for the scents in each recipe. These make lovely standalone gifts, too.
TIP: If you include food or beverage items, make sure they are well wrapped so they don't pick up the scents.
