Homemade cat gift baskets can be wonderful gifts to be shared by the kitty and it's owner. They are great cat lover gifts for all holidays or other special occasions. Or, kitty gift baskets as a way to welcome a new kitty into the family.

Wicker baskets or wooden crates work well as the container for a kitty lover gift basket. However, if you prefer an unusual container, use a cat bed, food dish, or a coffee mug with the picture of a cat.

If you choose a wicker basket or a cat bed as the container, place a fleece kitty blanket or a soft cuddly towel in the bottom so the kitty can use it for napping. Center a small stuffed cat in the center and surround it with arrange the other gift items you have selected.

One way to indicate the theme is to use pieces of yarn for the filler. You will read about placing filler on the assembly page. TIP: Yarn or any other filler on one color looks better than multi colors.

When considering gifts to include, you may want to use gifts (and treats) for both the kitty and the kitty lover. Another unique idea is to make pet foods to place in your homemade cat gift baskets.

You may want to include squeaky toys, catnip, scratching toy, grooming brush, collar, pet treats, cat book or calendar, coasters/paper napkins with kitty pictures, pens, pencils, refrigerator magnets, note pads with pet pictures, snacks for the kitty lover, or jewelry with a cat theme. My cats favorite toys are small plastic balls and wind up toys such as little mice. And, you can't go wrong with any kind of toys with catnip.

Choose healthy treats and safe, durable toys for the kitty.

Dollar-type stores usually have lots of cat toys as well as empty baskets.

Tie a small cat toy with a colorful shoelace or a long piece of yarn; use this instead of ribbon to decorate the completed basket.
