Apple Cider Vinegar Recipe

This apple cider vinegar makes a great gift to place in fruit baskets as well as in food gift baskets. To give the finished product eye appeal pour it in a glass cruet and tie raffia or curly ribbon around the neck of the cruet.

Vinegar Recipe With Cinnamon and Lemon

Ingredients and Directions:

2 cups apple cider or white wine vinegar
2 cinnamon sticks
zest from one lemon, dried

Pour all ingredients into a clean glass jar with an airtight lid. Place the jar to rest in a cool, dry place for one to two weeks. Strain the vinegar and pour into the glass cruet or other decorative bottle. Add a label noting the contents with a three month expiration date and that refrigeration is necessary.

SUGGESTIONS:
  • Substitute zest from half of an orange for the lemon zest.
  • This apple cider vinegar and olive oil makes a wonderful dressing for fruit salad.
  • Tie a sprig of dried mint or other herb in with the ribbon or raffia, which is tied around the neck of the bottle or cruet.

Vinegar Recipe With Herbs

Ingredients and Directions:

2 cups apple cider or white wine vinegar
1/2 cup packed fresh herbs: basil, thyme, rosemary, or tarrogon
4-5 black peppercorns

Gently wash herbs and pat dry with paper toweling. Combine all ingredients in an emamel or stainless steel saucepan. Heat to nearly a boil and remove from heat. When cooled, strain into an appropriate size jar(s). Cover jar with plastic wrap and then seal with a lid; or use a tight fitting cork. Allow to age in a dark, cool pace for at least two weeks.
