Alphabet Soup Recipe

For a Gift in a Jar

Use this alphabet soup recipe to make a gift in a jar. It's a great gift for those who are under the weather or those who are cooking challenged. Think about busy teachers, your neighbor, or work associates. It makes a nice gift for nearly anyone for any holiday or special occasion.
You will need a one pint jar with a lid. To add a decorative touch cover the lid with a larger square of fabric and secure the fabric with curly ribbon, raffia, or twine. You will also need to attach the cooking directions, which are at the end of this recipe.

INGREDIENTS:

1-1/4 cups alphabet pasta, uncooked
1 teaspoon chicken or beef bouillon granules
2 tablespoons dried soup greens, onion, or other vegetable flakes

Mix above ingredients, place in a jar, and seal tightly.

This alphabet soup recipe makes 2 to 4 servings.

Attach the following cooking direction:
Alphabet Soup Mix
In a large saucepan place 4 cups water, 1/4 cup tomato sauce or pasta sauce, and this soup mix. Bring to a boil and then simmer on low for 10 minutes uncovered until pasta is done to your liking. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

To enhance this gift, purchase a small basket or a small decorative shopping bag at your local dollar type store. Place a couple of paper napkins or shredded brown paper in the bottom of the basket or bag. Add the soup mix in a jar along with oyster or other small crackers. You may want to include a couple of wrapped tea bags and a small package of cookies to turn it into a complete meal.
